Georgia Tech gets $3.5M transportation study grant

Georgia Institute of Technology has received a $3.5 million federal grant to lead a group of colleges and universities in Georgia, Florida and Alabama to study how to address critical transportation issues in their communities and the nation, reports The Associated Press.

The award is part of $77 million in grants announced by U.S. Transportation Secretary Ray LaHood on Tuesday. Georgia Tech will work with Florida International University in Miami, the University of Alabama at Birmingham, the University of Georgia, Georgia Southern University, and others on the project, the news service reported.
